This project is rooted in an investigation that begun in 2019 on the Abri d’Érasme (Erasmus shelter), an autonomous therapeutic community founded in the 1970s in the Laurentians by québécois psychiatrist Roger R. Lemieux. Based on archives, interviews and field trips conducted in collaboration with health historian and philosopher Alexandre Klein, this project aims to explore the links between architecture, bodies, community, and the memory of place through the prism of the shelter. By giving to see and to hear a diversity of perspectives on l’Abri d’Érasme, some of which had previously remained untold, the documentary unfolds as a polyphonic story of this anti-psychiatric experiment.
